THE INNOVATION

O School is a performing arts center as well as a social enterprise. Its dance classes generate revenue to pay for the costs of the City Harvest Education Centre (CHEC) and at same time, provide steady employment for promising young talents – former youths-at-risk – to become full-time instructors, performers and choreographers.

BRIEF BACKGROUND

O School, a performing arts center, is a Social Enterprise set up by CHEC Ltd and supported by MCYS ComCare Enterprise Fund. CHEC was established by City Harvest Community Services Association (CHCSA) and  has been registered with the Ministry of Education (MOE) since 2002. The purpose of CHEC is to provide effective and affordable education to private candidates taking the GCE ‘N’ and ‘O’ level examinations. O School is now recognized as a leading dance studio, training the likes of Singapore Idol winners Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza, and organizing dance conferences like The Big Groove.
